CONCLUSION
In this research, organo-hydrotalcite materials with sodium dodecyl sulfate which renders the interlayer region more hydrophobic in nature, providing the potential for further intercalation/ adsorption of 3-amino propyltriethoxyl silane (APTES) was successfully prepared. The objective of this study was achieved successfully through the development of a novel organo-modified HTC-like LDH material. The use of HTC-like LDH-APTES catalyst for aldol condensation of acetone and benzaldehyde evaluated using GC-MS and resulted in varying percent conversion of the aldol product in 30 minutes duration at room temperature as the weight of the catalyst was varied. The HTC-like LDH-APTES catalyst was found to be eco-friendly, economical, easy to recover and reusable. We can therefore conclude that the basicity of hydrotalcite has been tuned for a base catalysed aldol condensation index mild condition and the catalyst system would be able to develop a clean and more efficient applications.
