ABSTRACT

Ab initio Sexual Offences/violence was common in situations of war and armed conflict, specifically, rape and sexual torture are frequently used as weapons to demoralize the enemy, howbeit, there is a twist. Sexual Offences is now an everyday global scourge and Nigeria is not exempted from its experience and threat, hence this research is an attempt to fine turn the possible causes and ways to satisfactorily curb the menace and its associated effects.

To practically and thoroughly exhaust this discuss, materials used are field and library based which will consist of existing primary sources and secondary sources, this includes legislations, case law, regulations e.t.c and secondary documents which includes law reviews, law reports, Law Textbooks, interviews from Prosecutors, journals and articles, internet materials and other publications by Writers in Criminal law practices.

This thesis discusses holistically the Concept of sexual offences, and finds that present legislations in Nigeria has not help so much, hence, the need to embrace, like other advance jurisdiction, the use of technologies and forensic science in discharging the evidential burden placed on the prosecution to prove its case.
